Am Rosenmontag ist ein halbes Dutzend Jungsozialistinnen und Jungsozialisten bereits in den frühen Morgenstunden aufgebrochen und der Einladung nach Straßburg von Barbara Weiler (MdEP) nachgekommen. Zusammen mit anderen Genossinnen und Genossen und einigen weitere Symphatisantinnen und Sympatistanten haben sie eine spannende Aussprache zum aktuellen Fortschrittsbericht der Türkei im Parlament erlebt. Neben der Plenardebatte gab es aber auch noch eine Menge weiterer Programmpunkte an den drei Tagen. Erwähnenswert finde ich beispielsweise den Besuch beim Europäischen Bürgerbeauftragten oder die informative Stadtführung bei strahlendem Wetter.
Zuletzt waren wir beim Generalrat des Dėpartements Bas-Rhin. Frankreich ist in 100 Dėpartements eingeteilt. Zu den Aufgaben gehören im Wesentlichen Folgendes: Straßenbau und -Instandsetzung sowie Soziale Hilfen (zum Beispiel Hilfe bei Behinderung, Arbeitslosigkeit).
Neben den gesetzlich geregelten Aufgaben sehen es die Vertreterinnen und Vertreter des Rates als ihre Pflicht weitere freiwillige Ausgaben zu tätigen, um den Bürgerinnen und Bürgern ein attraktives Lebensumfeld zu bieten. So investieren sie trotz knapper Kassen zusätzlich im sozialen und kulturellen Bereich, in Breitensport, sozialen Wohnungsbau und öffentlichen Personennachverkehr.
In den genannten Bereichen den Rotstift anzusetzen sei nicht zukunftsfähig und rechnerisch auch nicht sinnvoll.
