So stellten die Kasseler Jusos auf ihrer Unterbezirkskonferenz im Februar 2010 bereits viele inhaltliche Programmbausteine auf, die heute zum Großteil im SPD-Kommunalwahlprogramm wiederzufinden sind. Außerdem stellten die Kasseler Jusos mit ihrer Vorsitzenden Sabine Wurst ihre Spitzenkandidatin auf, die auf Platz 18 der SPD-Liste zur Stadtverordnetenversammlung kandidiert. „Wir alle stehen voll hinter Sabine und wir werden sie im Wahlkampf mit all unseren Kräften unterstützen, damit unsere Ideen und Vorschläge nicht nur auf dem Papier existieren, sondern auch umgesetzt werden“, sagt der stellvertretende Unterbezirksvorsitzende Johannes Gerken. Die Kasseler Jusos befinden sich gerade in einer intensiven Planungsphase für die Zeit bis zur Kommunalwahl. Erste Aktionen sind dabei schon durchgeführt worden. So haben die Jusos auf der Nominierungskonferenz für Bertram Hilgen klar gemacht, dass sie für die Wahlauseinandersetzungen bereit stehen. Außerdem verteilten die Kasseler Jusos mit großem Zuspruch bereits ihre diesjährige Weihnachtspostkarte auf dem Kasseler Weihnachtsmarkt. Gleichwohl hält Sabine Wurst den Anspruch der Kasseler Jusos fest: „Wir werden einen eigenständigen Wahlkampf für die jungen Menschen in Kassel führen und nicht nur Plakate für die SPD aufstellen, das ist unser Selbstverständnis als Jusos!“ So ist es auch verständlich, dass die Jusos selbstständig mehrere Wahlkampfstände betreuen und zudem weitere Aktionen durchführen werden, die speziell versuchen das junge Kassel anzusprechen.
